Within the Black Mount DMG designations include Rannoch Moor Site of Special Scientific Interest, Ben Nevis and Glencoe National Scenic Area and the Glen Etive and Glen Fyne Special Protection Area. There are also some significant peaks within the group boundary including Bidean Nam Bian, and Ben Cruachan and the iconic Buachaille Etive Mor at the head of Glen Etive and Glen Coe.
